Dana Rideout is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a trained yoga instructor.  Dana brings nearly 20 years of experience into counseling sessions with clients and families.  That same experience follows her into corporate boardrooms and civic organizations when she is asked to speak about the impact of mental health on business productivity, employee well-being and community growth.<\/p>\n

While working full time as a master\u2019s level high school instructor for students who are d\/D and hard-of-hearing, Dana completed her second master\u2019s degree in counseling from Western Carolina University in 2001.  She continued to work with adolescents, hearing and deaf, until 2004.  It was that year she began to transition into mental health and addictions counseling with adults only.  Prior to going into private practice solely, Dana facilitated group therapy sessions for individuals admitted to inpatient psychiatric care, as well as clients seeking intensive outpatient treatment.<\/p>

The information you share in psychotherapy is protected health information and is generally considered confidential by both South Carolina statute law and federal regulations. Your therapy file can be subpoenaed in South Carolina through a court order (signed only by a judge) but is considered privileged in the federal court system. Dana Rideout is mandated by standards through \u201cDuties to Warn\u201d to breach confidentiality if she discovers you are threatening self-harm or suicide; you are threatening to harm another or homicide; a child has been or is being abused or neglected; and\/or a vulnerable adult has been or being abused or neglected.
